A-Z||L.
YAY its the first of December.. The countdown to Christmas is finally here! I have lots of great things planned for you guys this month, so be sure to look out for my up and coming christmassy posts. I'm going to get things started by bringing you Christmas in Luxembourg. So here we have letter L. in my A-Z guide of great countries to visit round the world.
One thing that springs to mind when I think about Christmas in Europe is.. Christmas Markets. Most Christmas Markets I have visited often have German influences, and the markets are very popular in Germany. Luxembourg is a country which is located very close to Germany so a lot of its traditions are German.
You can find lots of traditional Christmas markets scattered around the country and this website HERE is very helpful for if you want to find a Christmas market near to where you are staying.
I found it really interesting to read all about the Christmas traditions here, and was quite surprised to find out that Santa Claus doesn't really exist in Luxembourg. (It is practised by some families, but is unheard of by the masses). I myself could not imagine Christmas without him, but instead ''The Christchild'' brings the gifts during the night of Christmas Eve. Luxembourg is also a very religious country, most people are Catholic so Christmas Eve is heavily celebrated, with various friends and family, and everyone attends midnight mass on this day.
I would really love to spend Christmas away from home and Luxembourg sounds like it would be a very fun place to visit. Here are just a few photos of some of the pretty Christmas sites you can see while here..
So there we have just another short little post- I do hope it has got you feeling all christmassy like me :) and it has maybe inspired to you re-think your Christmas plans at home this year. My next post will be about hotel comparisons in Mexico.. something which I am currently looking into so thought I would share with you all in case you needed a bit of help too!- Happy December the First to you all!!
