A-Z||O.

We are nearly through our A-Z list of countries- with only 8 left tonight's post is going to be all about Muscat in Oman. I will start off with some facts about the country and finish up with some great things to do whilst you are here.- Hope you enjoy

Oman is officially known as the Sultanate of Oman. It is an Arab state and the capital city is Muscat. The city of Muscat has many famous landmarks (most of which are Mosques) including the Sultan Qaboo Grand Mosque. It also has many notable temples as well as museums scattered around the country, which I will be going through in a little more detail during this post.

Most come to Muscat to soak up the religious culture and to visit some of the most beautiful sights. If you are planning a trip to Muscat you must visit one of the many mosques located in the city.
One of the most popular is the Sultan Qaboo Grand Mosque (previous mentioned above).

Located near the heart of the city centre in the Wilayat, Bawshar district lies this Islamic mosque. Millions of tourists visit this spot each year and it is described as one of the most beautiful mosques in the world. If you are planning to visit this mosque just like in most places of worship there are set rules and times when visitors can visit, so in order to remain respectful of others faiths it is advised that you dress conservatively (woman are required to cover their hair). Muscat is also infamous for its mesuems. There are plenty to choose from ranging from art mesuems, to historical mesuems and even mesuems for young children. I would recommend visiting the Bait Al- Baranda which gives great history Oman as a country. It is said to be very informative and makes for a great day out.
