Finland||Helsinki& Lappenrranta

As we celebrated valentine's day at the beginning of this month I thought I would continue my romantic holiday theme...
So here we have the latest addition to my European short romantic breaks away.

Whenever I think of Finland I automatically think of Lapland, Reindeers, Freezing temperatures and Santa.. Having researched lots of beautiful locations in Finland I have come to realise that there are many hidden gems and would love to share some with you...

Helsinki is the capital of Finland and one of the most visited Nordic cities in Europe. Just like any other city I have mentioned in my previous places there are many city attractions and things to do for couples here is a short list of ideas you can do on your trip to Finland.



If taking a tour of the famous landmarks is your thing why not visit Senate Square (Senaatintori) located in central Helsinki, this popular tourist landmark attracts thousands of visitors each year. The square itself (which can be seen below) includes The famous Helsinki Cathedral, The government Palace, The main building of the University of Helsinki and Helsinki's oldest building to date the Sederholm House.

Again if you love exploring new places and taking short walks around cities Helsinki is a perfect place for this. If however you are more of a nature lover you should definitely take a trip outside of the capital.

One of the best places to visit is coastal Lappeenranta in the South East part of the country. The city borders the Saimaa river so naturally the landscape is very beautiful with some amazing picturesque views in all seasons. There is also an airport in Lappeenranta which makes travelling to the city very easy. Here are some photos so you can see Lappeenranta in all its glory.
