Milan is the Capital every girl is talking about and its known for one thing and that's.... SHOPPING!!

Fashion is highly regarded in this city, so its only right that all you glam girls out there bring your  best shoes & your best girlfriends here for a weekend full of  fun, pampering & serious spending.

If.. however shopping isn't really your sort of thing or you are planning to visit Milan on a budget, the city has lots of great alternatives which I will guide you through such as some beautiful attractions, relaxing Spa's and lots of brilliantly glam cocktail bars.. so ultimately Milan has something to offer everyone.

There are thousands of little great spots in Milan, Italy to visit from The Golden Triangle to Galleria Vittoria Emanuele. I am now going to list a few taken from various online sites and include the many things there are to do in each place.

 The Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle is home to Milan's most famous designer shops. Shops include Gucci, Miu Miu, Armani, Chanel and Moschino to name a few. There are lots of lovely little quaint coffee shops and café's along the streets as well so if you feel like taking a short break from window shopping on the streets do consider giving one a visit.

The Duomo (The Cathedral)

In the heart of the city lies The Duomo one of Italy's most famous and visited attractions for tourists.

The Duomo is the 3rd largest Cathedral in the world and has a record of 3400 statues which you can see in the photo above. The Cathedral is said to be the symbol of Milan and a great meeting place as it is in the centre of the city. Entrance to the church itself is free but if you wish to climb the many stairs (250 to be precise) you can pay 7 euro's to climb all the way up to the roof.

This is definitely something which should be put on the bucket list as it is also said that on a clear day you can see as far out as the Alps.

La Scala Opera (Teatro alla Scala)

If you are looking to immerse yourself into some of the Italian art culture why not take a trip to the famous La Scala Opera house.
La Scala which was built in 1778 has seen many great Italian operatic artists and singers played on its stage. It is still widely recognised artistically today and is home to the La Scala Theatre Chorus, the La Scala Theatre Ballet and the Orchestra with the same name.

To book tickets to events and shows you can do so by visiting the official website.

Place's to Drink and Dance

I'm sure you will be wondering what places you can go for a night out on the town with the girls. Like most tourist cities Milan offers some great little hang out places for you and the girls. I am now going to share a few of my favourites with you....

Volo 2:
Is a new style bar located in the Via Torricelli district of the city, Volo 2 offers some great modern takes on traditional style cocktails. Inside the bar itself is a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere which is perfect for evening drinks with the girls. Or if you are feeling a bit more daring why not take a trip during the day and sit outside on the terrace in the sunshine. You can visit the website here for more information about this great bar.

Café L'Atlantique:
The luxurious venue located in the trendy Porta Romana part of Milan is a massive hit with the young locals as well as the tourists visiting or staying in the area. By day it is said to be quite a casual spot but by night the venue really comes alive. The crowd are said to be very glamorous so it is definitely worth checking out the dress and door policy before you arrive. You can find out all the info here.

That's just two of my top recommendations for night life in the city, there are thousand more to enjoy and you can take a look on this website here for more information on any of the bars and clubs as well as other great ideas on how to have a good time in Milan.

Where to stay?

To get the most out of your weekend away with the girls thinking about where to stay is key, and can make or break your trip. Most people who come to visit the city often stay in rented apartments or hostels as they are a cheaper alternative to hotels which can break the bank especially after a heavy weekend of shopping and partying so I have found some helpful websites on where to stay in Milan if you are planning to budget your spends.

Hostels are a great cheap and cheerful place to stay especially if you and your friends are planning to see all of the sights of Milan during the day and party your way through the night. This website is great for planning which hostel to stay in during your short trip here.
