Italy||Sicily

Next up as part of my relaxing and cleansing holiday feature is the beautiful island Sicily in Italy. Located in the centre of the Mediterranean this island is a perfect escape to come to and soak up the beautiful sun. Sicily is known for many points of interest including Mount Etna which is the largest active volcano in Europe. It also known for its culture especially in regards to its music, theatre and of course its food and drink.

Welcome to my ultimate guide of all things Sicily...

Soak up the culture.

Temple of Concord is a different must see if you are coming to Sicily and it is visited by thousands each year. If you are interested in European ancient history and are especially fascinated by Italian culture I'm sure a trip to this land mark will not disappoint. You can find this beautiful land mark in the Agrigento part of Sicily.

Sicily just like a lot of historical cities in Europe have plenty of museums scattered around. One museum which caught my eye however was the Museum of Salt located in the Trapini area, Not only do I think it is an interesting concept to learn about I also think the building itself is very pretty.- You can decide for yourself.  (Remember though if you are planning to come and visit they have different opening times and entry fee is around 3 euro's per person.)

Lastly on my list of great things to see here in Sicily is a fun filled trip to Etnaland (named after Mount Etna), one of the best theme parks in Italy!!. This would make a great family day out or if you are a bit of a thrill seeker like myself why not give a few of the rides a try. Or equally if you love aqua parks you should also come here as it has a great one. There is an entry fee to gain access into the theme park All info you could need are on the official website which can be accessed HERE.

Relaxing on the beach.

Why not finish off your day with a nice drink on the beach and a swim in the sea. Sicily has lots of great beaches and you can usually spot them a mile off as they are packed to the brim with tourists topping up their tans. Why not step away from the popular spots and soak up the sun else where for example at the Lido Mazzaro, which is a beautiful beach and a bonus is if you get the cable car to the beach it will drop you right near the shore.

Wining and Dining.

Next up I am going to be giving you some great restaurant recommendations because as all great foodies should know Italy is a very special place to experience local cuisine... (most of these have been taken from the Trip Advisor website so if you fancy checking any out please do head over there where you can find out more info)

1. Villa Antonio Restaurant, Taormina

(Source: taorminain.com)

This restaurant is one to look out for if you want to eat in an authentic Italian styled restaurant. You should try and book a table outside in the patio/garden area during a warm evening to really get a feel for alfresco dining. The restaurant itself is located in a villa and one thing I find really pleasant about this restaurant among the great service is the fact that the tables are really spread apart from each other so if you are planning a romantic dinner out you can find yourselves in complete privacy for the evening.  The restaurant is very classy and stylish so obvious restaurant etiquette is expected including clothing. The menu itself offers a wide range of locally produced ingredients and all dishes are hand prepared by the very talented traditional Italian chefs.
See HERE for more info.

-Dancing-

Daiquiri Lounge, Taormina

If you fancy a little dance and perhaps some drinks after your dinner a great place to visit is the Daiquiri Lounge, which is a very relaxed and sophisticated Cocktail bar which is also located in the Taormina part of town. The bar and waiting staff are very friendly here and the atmosphere is said to be very laid back during the week. If you like bars with a bit of music and dancing you should check this place out on the weekends. The bar itself is open later and there are usually resident DJ's playing an array of music to suit all tastes. If you love cocktails and are always looking for new ones to try this place should definitely be on your list!
