London to Stockholm to Gothenberg and back again||Part Three

We are already on day 3 of our week away in Sweden and today brings us to a whole new part of the country... Gothenburg.
I have heard lots of great things about Gothenburg and just couldn't wait to experience it for myself. In this post I am going to briefly talk about all the things we got up to on our first night here and all about the different hotels you can stay in if you are planning a trip here soon hope you enjoy

Okay so for those who don't already know Gothenburg is the second largest city in Sweden after it's capital Stockholm. It is located on the west coast of the country and is very unique in Sweden in that it has two Universities (University of Gothenberg & Chalmers University of Technology), two Airports (Goteborg Landvetter Airport & Goteborg City Airport) and is very well known for its sports. The film buffs out there will also known it is home to the Gothenberg Film Festival.

We arrived into Goteborg City Airport via Stockholm Arlanda in the early morning and decided to check into our hotel straight away ready to explore and cram in as much as we possibly could.

The hotel we decided to stay in was the 3 star Hotel Royal which was located a 5 minute walk from Gotheburg's central station and was fantastic value for money with double rooms priced at just 995 SEK per night (around £90 per night). We decided to stay central to the train station so that we could easily get around and meet up with friends who were staying in other parts of the city. This hotel was in the perfect spot with a 10 minute walk to Gotenburg's main street as well so if you are looking to explore I would 100% recommend this hotel.

In terms of the facilities they had on offer I would also recommend this hotel, although it may only be a 3 star hotel there was so much on offer I would of easily paid more for this hotel. The rooms were spacious and very clean. One particular thing that attracted us to this hotel was its traditional style. We have stayed in many modern hotels and wanted to opt for something a little bit different. This hotel was very fancy in style and did not disappoint.

Our room which was an economy double came with a flat screen TV and satellite channels included, shower in the bathroom, a telephone and ironing facilities, it also included breakfast in the price and you could reserve a room and pay as soon as you got there. Most rooms also offer a free cancellation policy (within a certain time period, please check on the website for more info) which we thought was a really good idea.

We did not really stay in our hotel during the day as we were exploring and during the evenings we would often go out for dinner or meet up with friends so unfortunately we didn't take any photo's of the hotel, but here are some from the booking.com website for you to look at...

Once we had arrived to our hotel we decided to freshen up and get ready for that nights activities.. We had decided before hand to visit one of Gothenburg's many clubs with some friends so after a few hours of getting ready in our hotel room we stepped out into the city to party the night away... you can read all about our adventures (from what I can remember) in my next post.
