Formentera||A Wedding Celebration

So the last post was the start of our Ibiza adventures, this is the next instalment of our time in Formentera.

We was very lucky to be invited to a wedding blessing on the island. It was due to take place on the 16th May in the afternoon. In total there was around 50 guests all whom were friends, family and partners of the bride and groom.

The wedding blessing took place at a lovely boutique hotel about 15/20 minutes drive from our hotel (more on that later) and about half an hour's drive from the main ferry port in Formentera. The hotel was called Gecko Beach Club Hotel.
All of the other guests except us stayed here.

We chose to stay in a different hotel a few miles down the road because we were staying on after the wedding when all the other guests were returning home. We opted for one of the 4 star Riu hotels, this one was called Riu Hotel la Mola and was located on the Playa de Migjorn part of the Island.

Both Hotels were amazing, and both had very different features which set them apart. Our hotel is a well known world wide chain and was a lot larger in size- as you can see in the photo I took above. There were lots more guests at our Riu hotel and it was very family orientated. There were lots of restaurants and a few different bars. There were also 2 swimming pools a large one by the beach and another a few steps up which was a lot quieter- we always opted for the quieter more relaxed of the two during our stay.

We decided to opt for half board which meant we got our breakfast and dinner in for the price of the holiday. Although we rarely made it breakfast the dinners we had were lovely and we especially loved the mini dessert selections.

Now for the facts.. if you fancy staying here in the Riu la Mola you can book your choice of room here on the official website. At the moment the hotel is selling out fast on most sites but you can check which and get up to date reviews of the hotel on the Trip Advisor's website by clicking here

 In all rooms you get all the usual amenities you would expect to find in a 4 star hotel for example a safe, mini bar/ mini fridge, free towels, hair dryer and cable flat screen TV aswell as free wifi all over the hotel. If you forget to bring your beach towels you can also hire them from the spa reception at a 10 euro deposit per towel, which you get back at the end when you bring back your towel- this service came very in handy for us as we only had hand luggage and didn't want to bring towels with us.

Here are some of the photos I got of the hotel during our stay.

So as you can see from the photos the hotel is beautiful and the surroundings are idyllic. I am now going to post some of the photos from the wedding at the Gecko Beach Hotel, another great hotel in Formentera.

So there we have just a few photos from the day. It really was a lovely day as you can see from the photos the weather was gorgeous from start to finish, and the island was so beautiful and peaceful it was a really fitting setting for a romantic wedding.

We thoroughly enjoyed our little trip to Ibiza/ Formentera and was blessed to be a part of the wedding. We are already looking at holidays back in Ibiza so watch this space.....
