A-Z Top 2 Countries||Denmark vs Dominica

Haven't posted one of these A-Z Top 2 Country posts in soooo long! Almost 3 months, If you need reminding of my last post you can read it here.  So fast forward to this weeks post and we are heading off to two amazing countries which have long been on my bucket list.(two very different countries I must add). I am going to be exploring the capital cities of both countries in each post. Starting with Denmark in this one first (I already wrote a Travel Guide Tuesday post last year on Copenhagen you can read it here) . Read on to find out what else Copenhagen has to offer.

Denmark||The Facts

Denmark is in Northern Europe. It is very small country made up of just 5.6 million people and it links to Northern Europe and Scandinavia. The capital city of Denmark is Copenhagen. The official language of Denmark is Danish but near enough everyone here can speak English very well, and is taught in all schools. Statistically Denmark is one of the safest countries to live, this is due to its low crime rate, high economy and trade and its above average education system and health care. Denmark is part of the EU (European Union, as of 1973) and also has a Queen (Queen Margrethe II) who is the Head of State and Lars Lokke Rasmussen is the Head of Government (as of 2015).

There are 5 main regions in Denmark and 45 major cities. The most popular are Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Aalborg, Frederiksberg and Esbjerg.

Copenhagen which is the Capital city of Denmark (as of the 15th Century), it can be found on the eastern coast of of the island Zealand. The city is one of the oldest and most expensive in the world. It is known for lots of things including Kronberg Castle, Holger Danske statue, Frederik's Church. It was first founded as a fishing village in the 10th Century. The education system is said to be one of the best in Europe. It is home to 3 major Universities. The University of Copenhagen, The Technical University of Denmark and Copenhagen Business School.

Eat||Restaurant

You may remember in my Travel Guide Tuesday Post I wrote about 3 restaurants all to suit different budgets. I also mentioned one Michelin star restaurant called Noma. If like me you consider yourself a bit of a foodie you will already know this restaurant is highly critiqued by just about every food writer going. I had a little read at some reviews on the internet and can tell you it scores very highly across the board, not just for its deliciously well thought out menu. Here's a few things you might like to know about this restaurant.

Recently voted number 3 on the worlds 50 best restaurants 2016 (winner in 2015 & 14) Noma Restaurant in the heart of Copenhagen is the one everyone is talking about. This is the place people are booking months in advance and it certainly not hard to see why.  It serves seasonal  Scandinavian dishes with a twist.

The Kitchen is lead by head chef Rene Redzepi, who has recently come back from a stint in Japan where he moved the restaurant for five weeks. Now back on home ground the restaurant is busier than ever. The menu is very much in keeping with season and all produce locally sourced i.e fresh fish, fresh vegetables all locally caught and grown.  Redzepi's style is eccentric with a traditional Scandinavian twist.  His food entices the imagination and taste buds, and will leave you wanting more and more.

Stand out dish:
Sweet Lobster, Lavender and Rose Oil
