Ibiza Rocks||Our Summer Holiday 2016

You may already know about our change of plans for our summer holiday this year, we were originally going to be heading to Dubai but a last minute finance check meant that we had to change our plans and opt for something a bit more nearer to home (It's all for a good cause though, as I am saving for my trip to the Big Apple in November). So instead we have decided to stay in Europe and have opted for party island Ibiza, purely based on the fact that we stayed on the island for 1 night last year and it just was not enough time to explore, we said we would come back eventually and now seemed like the perfect time to do so, so this time round we will be there for a whole 10 days!

Location

Last year we stayed in the popular party hotel 'Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Hotel' in popular party distrcit Playa d'en Bossa which is right in the centre of the island. As our trip last year was a bit last minute (we wasn't actually supposed to be staying in Ibiza) we only got to stay for 1 night so didn't get a chance to explore.

This year we have all the time in the world- well 9 days give or take so I have been researching other hotels in the area which are 5 star and pure luxury like our one we were in last year. Here are my findings.

Hotels

Currently there are 18 listed 5 star hotels on the island, most of which are actually located AWAY from Playa d'en Bossa, looks like everyone is eloping from the party scene this year- much to my surprise. Here are my top 3 hotels which I have found on the booking.com website. Each hotel is a luxury 5 star- lets see if you can guess what one I want to stay in (hint I wrote about it a few weeks ago).

Itinerary
Obviously Ibiza is known for its party atmosphere and young lively crowd, I like to think that at the mere age of 25 my partying days are far from over, but on the other hand I know I am more mature enough to not want to party every single night of my holiday (honestly don't know how you party animals cope!), and I do want to explore other things on the island other than the clubs and bars. Here's some other things I have already on my agenda, including some of Ibiza's most loved sights.

The Beaches

It wouldn't be a summers holiday without the beaches now would it? and Ibiza is known for having some of the best beaches in the Balearic's. There is a good amount to choose from including: Cala Comte, Cala Bassa, Playa Cala Salada,Cala Saladeta, Playa de Ses Salines, Cala Benirras (and I could go on and on)...

'Cala Comte' is one of the most popular beaches on the island and it is located right in Ibiza Town- so yes it will be full of tourists. For a more laid back, quiet and dare I say Romantic beach trip you must visit 'Playa Cala Salada' (pictured above) the photos do not even do it justice. This beach is top on my list this year and I can garentee it will be on yours too.

Nikki Beach Ibiza

Location: East Coast of Island, Santa Eulalia
Services: Bar/Restaurant/Pool/Beds/VIP areas
Open: Daily from 11am May-October

This is a fairly new concept of party on the Island, if you like pool parties you will LOVE Nikki Beach Ibiza for sure. It reminds me a bit of Ushia Hotel (the hotel we stayed in last year) as it has a very young, party crowd (with the VIP edge) it is a great place other than the Beach to come and chill out with your friends and there is plenty of booze on tap, delicious foods to eat and top international DJ's playing the best summer tunes all day and night long!

Established in 1998 by Events Promoter 'Jack Penrod' the chain has since gone global, there are now 13 Nikki Beach Clubs scattered around the world in some of the most expensive and luxurious places.

For more info on Nikki Beach go to their website where you can also reserve tables at the restaurant and poolside bed's/tables.

This is just a little personal sight I want to visit  if I'm in the area because I am kind of obsessed with the Christ the Redeemer in Brazil and cannot get to see it this year, so to me this is the next best thing!  Obviously this won't be a main attraction for us both as we are not religious but I think its nice to come and look at it as it is significant to the area.

Restaurants/Bars

A big part of holidaying for me is trying different local foods and drinks. I love Spanish food and have tried most of the well known traditional dishes in Spain, I particularly love their traditional Spanish Tapas with a nice glass of crisp white wine. I love the variety you can get with a Tapas, and as I am a bit of a grazer myself the smaller dishes are perfect for me. Loads of great restaurants in Ibiza sell the local delicacies and I cannot wait to find some great ones to share with you all when I come bacl.

Day trip to Formentera

You may remember my post about the wedding I went to last year over on the island of Formentera. It was such a beautiful experience and our time on the island was very memorable indeed, we absolutely knew we couldn't come back to Ibiza without taking a ferry over to Formentera. I have planned a little day trip there during our time away, we are definitely going to go back to The Gecko Beach Hotel (wedding venue last year) for some drinks and to catch up with some old friendly faces. I haven't brought the tickets for the Ferry yet but from what I can remember it was about 25 euros for the half an hour trip over the coast and we booked with 'Trasmapi' which seems to be the most popular company out of the 4 operating. They also offer services between 2am till 11pm so very if you are spending just one day in Formentera like us you can enjoy the island all and night. It is well worth a visit, I don't think I would ever come to Ibiza now without popping over to its neighbouring Island. The contrast of each Island couldn't be any different. Formentera is a lovely quiet relaxing place to escape to after a heavy night out in the Ibiza clubs.

So there we have just a few little snippets of what we plan to do on our summers holiday. We fly out the end of this month and are out there for around 9 nights so I will hopefully be able to update you all after i'm back.
