Valentines Day:Top Pick of Romantic Restaurants in London

Ahh the dreaded day is upon us Londoner's, the big V day is just round the corner (next Tuesday, don't forget it people!). I for one love the whole idea of the day and love celebrating it with my partner, but I know it fills some people with dread! So this post is aimed at everyone (hopefully).

Those of us who LOVE the day and want to celebrate somewhere special with our loved one, and those singleton's who maybe want to just get together with a group of friends or family and have a bit of fun. There is a restaurant out there in London for everyone (and all the ones on this list I have tried and tested personally, so you can rest assure you are getting the best of the best) , but book up quickly as I am sure these places will be very popular next Tuesday evening and during the weekend.

GAUCHO'S

I have to start with my number one restaurant Gaucho's it simply wouldn't be valentines day If this wasn't mentioned. This is the restaurant where me and my boyfriend of 3 years first came, it is also the place we come every valentines day it is so special to us and to be honest you only have to look at the interior to see why! The food is exceptionally outstanding, seriously the best meat I have ever tasted, and the overall experience could easily rival that of a restaurant with many Michelin stars. (In fact we have been to a few, and they are nothing in comparison to this place!)  My all time favourite restaurant is the one at London Tower Bridge. I just love the views overlooking the Tower Bridge and it is in a really nice area there are lots of lovely bars and other restaurants surrounding it. The best thing about this place is it stays open till around midnight, so you can both really get lost in conversation and good food!

Why not check out their website, and have a little look to see what one you like the look of, take a peek at their menu whilst you are at it.

FOREST ON THE ROOF AT SELFRIDGES, OXFORD STREET

This is a bit more of a relaxed affair, and a really great place to come after a spot of shopping in the worlds famous department store! Forest on the roof is one of their little winter pop up restaurants (they change their restaurants seasonally) we first heard about this particular restaurant back in 2015 and have been coming every winter ever since. Forest on the roof is open for Breakfast, lunch and dinner, we have only ever dined here during the evening so cannot really comment on their breakfasts or lunches but I am sure they are tasty as well.

The last time we came here we opted for dishes from the a la carte menu, I had the '1936 beer battered fish & chips, with caper mayonnaise' and a side of 'seasoned chips' my other half opted for the 'salt-aged beef burger, with club sauce' also with 'seasoned chips' both meals were so tasty!

We love the style of the restaurant, it is really cosy they have little check blankets on the back of their chairs for you to cosy up with a coffee on those cold evenings, their menu's are well prepared, they use all locally sourced ingredients in all of their dishes, and their dishes change annually. It is quite an intimate restaurant, so it does fill up quite quickly but it is well worth a visit if you are in area. The price is also not too bad considering where it is located!

For more info on opening times and to book a table please see their website for details.

BARBECOA

This beautiful restaurant overlooking St Paul's cathedral is another favourite for me and my partner, as it is yet another place we visited early on in our relationship (can you tell we are both foodies yet?). I personally found this restaurant on London's Time Out webpage. It was voted one of London's best restaurants with a view, so we decided to check it out based on the recommendations we read about. We left not disappointed that evening, the food was just as good as the amazing view we had of St Paul's. For those not familiar it is a restaurant which is owned by Mr Jamie Oliver (yes another one), but this one is a more contemporary and upmarket. This is one of his only restaurants which is meat-focused (not really one for the vegans or vegetarians- but they do have some options on the menu). It is located at One New Change, a modern shopping and restaurant complex up the city and close to great transport links (St Paul's underground station is just a 2 minute walk away). It gets extremely busy during Fridays & the Weekends, the crowds are young, trendy professionals mostly so be prepared to dress to impress and book your table well in advance.

WINING & DINING AT HARRODS

Another department store favourite of mine is Harrods. I have been fortunate enough to dine in one of their restaurants, the 'Rotisserie' where we enjoyed lovely cuts from the grill in a gorgeous restaurant located on the ground floor. When we came here a few months ago on a Saturday, as you can imagine it was very busy we were very lucky to have got seated. We both opted for two of their 'Baby Chicken' dishes which was so tender it was marinated in yogurt, lime juice, fresh garlic and fresh herbs. I had mine with some of their 'Harrods potato salad' and 'Duck-fat roasted potatoes' it was so lovely.

I have also sipped on a few champagne cocktails in their gorgeous and very elegant champagne bar which is also located conveniently on the first floor. I honestly cannot think of a better date idea than to be treated to a few goodies in the shop and then head for a lovely glass of fizz or one of their delicious crisp wines at their stylish and chic bar. The bar is open Monday-Saturday 12pm until 9pm and Sunday 11:30am- 6:00pm. Check out their drinks menu here

If you are on a bit more of a budget Harrods also has a cute little pizza and prosecco bar which is located on the second floor that is open during the same hours as their champagne bar. This is bit more of a relaxed vibe in here, and children can also dine here too and they sell an array of beverages including beer and of course non alcoholic. You can find a full menu and more info about this bar here

Harrods has so many fantastic places to eat and drink I want to try their Burger Bar next (located on the fourth floor) it sounds so tasty, especially their cocktail menu.
